The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated in Ashok Vatika Public School with great vigour and the festive spirit. Baisakhi is an important festival of Punjab that represents the prosperity and happiness of people. To mark this occasion, the students of grade 10 held a special assembly dedicated to the festival. They highlighted the culture of Punjab and the significance of Baisakhi for the Punjab and Punjabis. The students presented a speech about this day and they shed a light on the history of this day by presenting a play on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The presentation left all the viewers quite emotional. They read out famous Punjabi poems on the festival. The colors of the culture of Punjab were also presented through the performance of Punjabi dance. The students presented the dance with exuberance and cheerfulness. The whole celebration got much applause from the teachers and the students. Moreover, the students of grade 3 and 4 were taken to the fields to give them experiential learning opportunity. They were acquainted about the crop of wheat and the relation of this crop to the festival of Baisakhi. They were also taken to Gurudwara Saheb. The principal, Mrs. Anchal Mahajan, also conveyed her wishes for the festival and praised the efforts of the students for the highly energetic performances She also suggested the students to respect their culture and praise it for its invaluable richness.
The foundation of Ashok Vatika Public School at G.T. Road, Amritsar was laid by Late Shri Ashok Mahajan in the year 1995, who was a renounced business icon and philanthropist of his time. His coveted wish was to set up a unique educational institution for the uplifting of the masses of that area by giving them quality education to enable them to develop their talents and personality to shine as useful members of the society.
